STUDIO POLICIES
Welcome to Ethos. To ensure a safe, respectful, and comfortable environment for our entire community, the following policies apply to all bookings, purchases, and studio visits. By booking a class or purchasing a pass, you agree to these terms.
1. Bookings, Payments & Credits
All Purchases Are Final: All class passes, term courses, private bookings, and studio rentals are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Absences & Expirations: Unattended classes, missed sessions, or unused credits will not be refunded, prorated, or rolled over into future terms.
Medical Exceptions: If a medical condition prevents you from continuing your course, please submit a valid note from a registered medical doctor or physiotherapist. Unused class credits will be assessed on a prorated basis based on the date of your documentation, less a $20 administrative processing fee. Approved medical credits must be redeemed within one term (8 weeks).
Payment Confirmation: Bookings are only confirmed upon receipt of full payment. For PayNow transactions, payment must be completed at the time of checkout to hold your spot. Unpaid spots will be automatically released. All credit card transactions are subject to a 3.2% card processing fee.
2. Course Changes & Transfers
Switching Courses: Any request to change the schedule of a booked term course must be submitted prior to the start of the term.
Fee Differences: If transferring to a course of higher value, you must pay the difference. No refunds or class credits will be issued when switching to a course of lower value.
Admin Fee: A $20 administrative fee applies to any course change requested after term has started, including changes required due to booking an incorrect skill level without prior instructor clearance.
3. Cancellations & Minimum Enrolment
Course Thresholds: All classes require a minimum enrolment (typically 5 participants) to run. If a course does not meet this threshold 7 days prior to start, Ethos reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the class.
Studio Cancellations: If Ethos cancels or reschedules a class, you will be offered a placement in an alternative class or a studio credit valid for 8 weeks.
4. Make-up Classes
Eligible Absences: If you need to miss a class during a term, you may withdraw from the class within your OClass app and schedule a make-up in another class slot of the same course, or other eligible classes within the same term.
All withdrawals via the OClass app must be done at least 3 hours prior to the start of the class. Late withdrawals need to be submitted to the studio in writing, and are subject to a $5 administrative fee per request.
Term Limit: Unutilized class credits will not be carried over into future terms.
5. Punctuality & Studio Etiquette
Warm-Up Policy: Safety is paramount. To prevent injury, doors lock 5 minutes after class starts. Late arrivals beyond 5 minutes into warm-ups will not be permitted to enter or participate, and the session will be forfeited if a late withdrawal request is not submitted.
Jewellery & Grip: Rings, bracelets, watches, and dangling jewellery are prohibited during pole and movement classes to avoid injury and equipment damage.
Lotions & Oils: Do not apply body lotions, moisturisers, or oils on the day of your class.
Noise & Respect: Please keep noise to a minimum in reception and waiting areas while classes are in session.
6. Attire & Hygiene
Appropriate Apparel: Please wear appropriate athletic attire suitable for movement (e.g., fitted shorts, sports bras, opaque leggings). Undergarments must be worn under all shorts/polewear at all times. Translucent/see-through materials, swimwear, thongs or visible undergarments are not permitted.
Footwear: Footwear in studio spaces is strictly limited to indoor dance heels/boots, ballet slippers, or socks. Outdoor street shoes are not permitted on the studio floor.
Hygiene: Please maintain good personal hygiene out of respect for your fellow dancers and instructors. Clean and wipe down all equipment, mats, and poles with your own towel after every use, with the studio-provided sanitising solutions.
7. Media, Intellectual Property & Privacy
Filming Etiquette: You are welcome to film your own progress, provided you respect the privacy of others and when instructed to. Please do not capture fellow dancers without their explicit permission.
Instructor Demos: Filming instructors’ full technical breakdowns or routines without permission is strictly prohibited.
Choreography: Choreography taught at Ethos is the creative intellectual property of the studio and instructors. Content may be shared on social media for personal memory, but full routines may not be re-taught or used for commercial purposes.
8. Self-practice Sessions
Unsupervised self-practice spots are non-refundable, and sharing of equipment is not permitted.
Name swaps/transfers for practice slots must be submitted in writing at least 24 hours in advance.
Dancers must practice safely and within their current level. Ethos is not liable for injuries resulting from unsupervised practice or attempting unauthorised movements.
9. Inclusivity & Safe Space
Ethos is an inclusive, welcoming environment. We have a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, harassment, body-shaming, or disruptive behaviour of any kind. Ethos reserves the right to refuse service or remove anyone who violates these values
